Pilar Montenegro (born Maria del Pilar Montenegro López on May 31, 1969) is a Mexican Latin pop singer and actress. When Montenegro was 10 years old she landed her first acting part in the TV series Juguemos A Cantar, her career moved along with her becoming a member of Fresas Con Crema for a short time. In 1989 she joined the group Garibaldi at age 20, and spent a few years with the group which became very popular during the early 1990s. During the mid '90s she began to appear in soap operas and left Garibaldi to pursue a solo career. By 1996 she released her debut album Son Del Corazon.

In 2001 Montenegro reemerged into the music scene with her second album Desahogo. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Latin Billboard Chart and sold over 200,000 copies in the United States reaching Platinum status. The album produced the hit single, a cover of Yolandita Monge's "Quitame Ese Hombre", which hit No. 1 and earned Montenegro various award nominations. The song spent 13 weeks at the top of the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks and would go on to spend 13 weeks at the top of the World Latin Chart. Following the success of her second album she released her third album in 2004 entitled Pilar. The album debuted at No. 34. She later released new material in 2004 and 2005
